2025 crashes on export with hardware coding

Hi,

This is self explanatory. The footage is HD 1080i, the preset used is "Match source, adaptive high bitrate", but other presets do it too.

If "Hardware coding" is selected in the Video options, the rendering stops after one to 3 minutes of footage (depends on the content) with an error - a bit cryptic, shown in the attached file. My video card is an Nvidia RTX 3070.

The workaround is rather simple, just select "Software coding". Had to find it though, so if it's useful to someone... I'm not even sure that it isnt't faster than hardware!

There is something on the timeline at the given time in the error message that elements does not like.

Delete from timeline and edit again.

See how that goes.

Make sure you have the most current Nvidia Studio driver installed.

Otherwise, Software only is the way to go which is slower than hardware encoding.

It's not something on the timeline, because when troubleshooting I made a number of tests with completely different footage and minimal editing work (just dropping clips on the timeline and going to export). The "crash" always occurs after 1 minute and most of the time before 3. Once it even went all the way to 6 minutes, the exact spot seems to be determined by the complexity of the clips, as far as I can tell. My drivers are also always the latest version, so I'll go for a memory issue bug - I'm sure that someone who knows what the error codes mean could tell.

In the meantime I'm glad that I found a workaround, not being able to export anything at all would have been a catastrophic issue!
