Adding a music track to a video

I have a video which does not have any music. I am trying to add a music track to my video, but I get a message that says "Add Media Failure - The importer reported a generic error." I would appreciate any help in solving this problem.

Where does the WAV or MP3 music file come from?  How are you importing it?

The music is an MP3 file, and it is located on my computer hard drive.

Did that file come from Apple? (which has copy protection built in unless you do 'something' extra... I don't do Apple, so I don't know the details)

 

If not Apple, where did you get the file?
