Adding a timecode in Premiere Elements 2018

Hello,

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 12, and as far I'm aware I'm unable to add a timecode to my videos. Is this possible in Elements 12, and if not, if I upgrade to Adobe Premier Elements 18, is this feature included?

FYI: I am interested in collating raw footage into one long video, and applying a timecode before I send it to a professional video editor with edit instructions.

Also, will Elements 18 enable me to save my video files as smaller sized files than Premiere 12? In 12, the smallest I'm able to save a 20 minute video is 1GB, and I'm hoping to be able to save them as low quality, 400 MB files.

This may be my naivety, so any help suggesting how to save my videos as small sizes would be greatly appreciated as well.

There is not feature or effect in Premiere Elements, including 2018, that will display the timecode on your video. It is a feature in Premiere Pro.

I don't know what your output setting are, but if you post them I'll see if I can find a way to compress the files. My hunch is that quality visual quality will reduce beyond what is acceptable.

One alternative to force compression might be to investigate the capabilities of Handbrake. You should be able to run your finished file through it and force further compression.

Thanks very much. Have you got any suggestions for extensions or plug ins that could allow me to do it? Buying Premiere Pro just isn't economical for the purpose of timecoding footage.

It won't let me export my videos, only publish and share. Would this be the problem? The export button is greyed out. When I click on publish and share / computer / mpeg the smallest file size option I get is NTSC DVD Standard.

I do not know of any extensions or plug ins that will display timecode on a video project.

The only way to create a final video is through "Export & Share". Although I remember seeing an "Export" choice in one of the menus of a previous version, I can't find it in 2018. When it was there it had a limited use that related to titles only. If the export button is there on you installation, it should be greyed out unless you are doing something unique with titles.

Most of us look for highest quality and not minimum file size. Beyond what I you've found, I know of no way to reduce file size further inside of Premiere Elements. The excellent shareware called "Handbrake" has options to compress video files.
