Adjusting audio volume in 2024 works in mysterious ways!?

I have just upgraded from 2020 to 2024. I used to adjust audio levels by adding keyframes and then adjusting the volume between keyframes - but adjusting the volume in the volume control does not have any effect. The volume control seems dead? Also the Audio Mixer does not seem to be able to adjust audio levels - not even between keyframes. As of now I can only adjust volume by dragging the yellow line up/down. What is wrong here? It used to work in the old version.

I have the same problem, yellow line/key frames works fine but mixer slider or manually entered values are accepted sometimes or reverts to previous value. A re-launch of app seem to clear the problem for a while but then back to not editing values? Windows 10
