Adobe Elements 2021 editor freezing up and really slow

I used Elements 2015 for years without issue and now that I am running the 2021 version, it is freezing up and slow. I have lost so much work that I could scream. It is not my top of the line Lenovo with 16gb ram, as I am using Filmora X without any issues at all. I doubt I will continue to use Elements, but I would like to know if there is a quick fix just for my own peace of mind. In a way it was a expensive blessing, as I find Filmora X far superior and does much much more at 1/2 the price.

I did everything under the sun and Adobe Elements is just as slow and crashes constantly. I moved onto FilmoraX and find it wonderful. The good thing that came out of Elements 2021 being junky, is that I was forced to try another editing program and found a whole new wonderful world. My Adobe Elements just sits on my desktop like a useless paperweight that was $130.

Since you've switched and don't want look back, you should get a refund.  If you bought directly from Adobe, you have a brief refund period.  "Any non-subscription product purchased directly from Adobe may be returned within 30 days of receipt."

By Elements 2015 I assume you mean Premiere Elements version 15.

That said, did you open the version 15 project in version 2021? That can definitely cause the problems you describe. Premiere Elements is not backwards compatible, and doing that can cause corruption. We always recommend finishing a project in the version you started it.

Beyond that, what is the video you are editing and what device produced it? not all formats and resolutions are easily editable.

In addition to Steve's questions, what are the settings for:

1- Audio Hardware preferences?

2- Timeline Render Quality?

3- Hardware Acceleration?

4- GPU use?
