Adobe premiere element 2018 - codec is missing or unavailable

Hello there,

I have MOV files that cannot be imported into Adobe Premiere Element 2018.

It can be opened in Window Media Player though.

So it is Premiere issue.  I have installed K-lite codec pack mega, so HEVC should have included already.

Has anyone come across to similar issue?  Would a new Premiere element solve this issue?

Thank you!

Installing codec packs is a bad idea. It can mess up your system codecs badly.

Elements 2018 does not support HEVC even is the codec is installed.

Convert footage with Handbrake before import.

Elements 2022 support H.265 but get rid of the K lite codec pack and install the HVEC codec from Microsoft.

As Ann says, support for HEVC video was added in Premiere Elements version 2020.
