Adobe Premiere Elements 2020 - Keyboard shortcut (Windows)

Hi

I'm going up and down a track on the timeline using the arrow keys.

I then find a splice point and do CTRL+K and cut it.

* Now I want to delete the clip before the chop, the best way I can do that at the moment is select that clip with my mouse and hit delete on the keyboard. Then ideally I want to close the gap afterwards if necessary *.

How can I do this with keystrokes on Windows with no mouse?

Thanks.

This shor cut Backspace only works in track 1....

    Same goes for 2019.

    Bug or by design?

It's only recently been installed, all the default settings are there. I def appreciate your help.

I am wondering if anybody can repro this on Adobe Premiere Elements 2020 (Windows).

    Thanks.

You may want to try resetting the preferences:

To restore default preference settings, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.

    from here:

"Also can you tell me what version of Premiere Elements you are using please and what OS?"

I'm sorry, but I use Premiere Pro, not Premiere Elements. I know, "What are you doing on the Premiere Elements forum?"

I'm here because I used to use an old version of Premiere Elements before switching ot Premiere Pro, and I can still sometimes be useful here.

Thanks, let me give you more specific steps.

I only have one clip in the project.

I move forward in time with right arrow key.

I press CTRL+K and split the clip

I move forward in time with right arrow key.

I press CTRL+K and split the clip again, I am now left with three clips on one track in the project.

Now I want to delete the clip behind the time marker (the middle clip, just behind the the split I just made).

Pressing backspace does not work for me at all, even if I highlight a clip with the mouse (but I don't want to use a mouse anyway to do this!).

    Bootnotes...

If I press DEL it will delete any clip that is currently highlighted on the timeline, but I can't seem to highlight other clips using any keyboard command, I have to use the mouse every time.

If I go to Edit -> Keyboard Customization (Note it's set as "Adobe Premiere Elements factory default) -> Application -> Edit -> Delete and Close Gap, it says it's backspace. It's not working in Premiere Elements 2020 (Windows).

Also can you tell me what version of Premiere Elements you are using please and what OS?

    Thx.

Backspace is the keyboard shortcut for delete and close gap:

Note that if there is any media on a track above or below the clip being deleted, then delete and close gap will not work.
