Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 - Delete audio only - unwanted shifting of clips on timeline - bug?

I’ve noticed very strange behaviour of Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 which looks like some bug

I just want to delete audio track of one clip on my timeline. Nothing more. Just delete it. However, I can see that deleting the audio track leads to shift of all video clips on the right. This is something unexpected and unwanted.

Please see that video which shows the problem: https://youtu.be/w1nuMC-8qjE

I know how to do that in other way but it seems that something wrong is happening here.

Hold down alt and select audio.

Right click > delete.

Or shift delete.

Sharing a workaround for this

  1. Unlink video and audio in the clip (clip: just right before the intentional gap)
  2. right-click the audio track (only) and select "Delete"
  3. Select all clips before the clip selected in step 1 and then choose "Delete audio" or "keyboard delete button".
    The intentional gap would remain.

I know of no way to avoid this. It sort of drives me crazy too.
