Advice for Export Settings?

I am exporting a video that has both 4k and 1080p videoclips in it. I am then going to upload to YouTube (and Rumble). Apparently the project was automatically set to 1080p when I started it, because that is the recommended setting when I go to export. I figure it's impossible, but I would *like* to not downgrade the 4k clips...? Any advice on what I should do to achieve optimum video quality?

You can force the program to change the project settings to 4K using this trick of mine.

You will always get the best results if your output settings match your project settings.

I agree that Steve's method to change project settingsis brilliant.   But, I don't think that will improve your end result.

Is you goal to make a quality YouTube video?  Most will watch that on computer screens, tablets and phones.  Few will watch YouTubes on 4K TV screens.   YouTube's conversions, compression and transcoding is always a mystery, but seems to be optimized for efficient delivery in HD, even with limited Internet bandwidth and speed.

Since you mixed 4K and 1080p in the project, it seems to me that the end viewing result will be best for most people if you build a 1080p project and export to match for a YouTube upload.  Take advantage of the 4K for quality pans, zooms, crops, etc. in the project.  Building a 4K project with 1080p in it, does not make sense to me.

If you want 4K viewing, you will have to make a 4K project, output 4K and upload 4K.  HD footage in that project may look weak.  If you are 4K consistant and your viewers have 4K screens, YouTube will work well.

You may have to do some testing on your own, with your footage, to see what works best.
