Audio stream in Premiere Elements: How to lower the peaks?

I have a wonderful 5-minute Premiere Elements file of my 5 year-old granddaughter dancing ballet in a tutu and cowboy boots. Don't ask!

The boots make more noise than desireable on the wood floor. One can see the audio make sharp peaks at those points, rising far above the level of the background music and occasional voice.

How can I lower or clip just the peaks to bring that volume more in line with the rest of the clip?

Thanks in advance!

There is a very capable audio tool called Audacity.  It's free.  You can remove the audio track, work on it in Audacity and put it back in your project.   https://www.audacityteam.org/

There may be easier ways, but I don't know how else you could lower just the peaks.
