Blue tint to old some old footage. White balance? Anyway to fix this?

So this was shot way back in 2003 and somewhere along the trip a button clearly got presses and all subsequent footage has a blue tint. No doubt some form of lighting compensation setting and white balance issue but if there are any suggestions to remedy this it would be much appreciated.

thanks.

Correct answer Bill Sprague

You did not say which version of Premiere Elements.  Look for the Adjustments tab and try "Temperature and Tint".  There also a "Color" and "Color RGB" tools.

You may not be able to perfectly fix it, but you'll make significant improvements.

Have tried with this and some success. Still nowhere close to perfect but a little more convincing. Thanks for your help.

It is good that you are getting at least some success.  There are three more color tools that might also help.  Look in the effects ("fx") section.

Thanks for your reply. I have version 15. I have tried playing around with the RGB tool and the colour tool but without much success. When combining this with the temperature and tint you mentioned I do get a slightly better result but unfortunately nothing even close to the unaffected footage.  I'm possibly being a little too heavy handed with the settings, will play around a little more.

Thanks,

In most cases the blue tint like that is a function of a wrong "white balance" setting in the camera.  The likely tool to improve it is the "temperature" adjustment.  Reset the other adjustments to zero and try "temperature" first.  Then try "tint".
