Question

Burning DVDs

I changed to a new computer running on Windows 11.

I downloaded Premiere Elements 2026.   After two days, for various reasons, I uninstalled it and asked for a refund (which I have already received, thanks).

I downloaded again my old PE 14.   But this required downloading a driver -  PxHIpa64.sys - that created problems.   I could however, suspend the memory protection of Windows and download and install PE 14.   I then changed the name of the file and restored the memory protection.    When I finished a first project, I disactivated the memory protection and gave the driver its original name.   This allowed me to burn a DVD using PE 14 on Windows 11.

However, when working an a second project, I realized that my computer was not recognizing the DVD burner any more.   I had to request external help from those who had sold me the computer and access to the burner was restored.   But achieving this result was a complicated matter that I was advised not to try to do myself.

After the burner was restored, I could again burn a second DVD without problems (going through the same routine with memory protection and the name of the driver).   But now my computer again does not recognize the DVD burner.   This second incident taught me that I cannot repeat this again, I cannot burn DVD from my old versions of PE, as I have done since 2007.

I have received the advice not to use DVDs.   But my large TV screen is in a room very far from my office.   Sticking a USB stick into one of the sockets of the TV screen does not allow me to control the playing of the DVD.   Using a HDMI port necessitates loading PE on a laptop and controlling the play of the DVD from the laptop.   Not very practical.   I still need to burn DVDs.

I need advice on programs I can use to burn the DVDs that I edited with PE14 (after having converted it in a MPEG-TS format).   I have seen advice to use ImgBurn.   But the program comes with adware and collateral programs.   Too risky.

I have see suggestions to use DVD Architect, DVD Flick, ConvertXtoDVD and many other programs.   Does anyone use regularly these programs to burn DVD ?  Thanks for the help/advice.

You need an authoring program.

ImgBurn only burns disk.

Some people on the forum use this:

I use DVD Architect Studio, but it is no longer available.

Thanks.   But what is an authoring program?   A program like Premiere Elements ?

DVD authoring is the process of creating and combining the various elements of a DVD (video clips, artwork, photo slideshows, music, etc) before it is burned to disc

Can you make an image/folder DVD with PE14?

If so then you can use ImageBurn to burn the dvd file to disk.

If you save your DVD files to your computer, you can use the free program ImgBurn to burn the files to a disc, as I show you in my tutorial. Ive not found any issues with ad or bloatware from my download at imgburn.com.

Steve,

thanks for your tutorial.   I watched it.    It still looks as ImgBurn is a bit complicated.   It needs attention to install it and the printing of the DVDs looks tough.   I did not understand where the "folders" come it.   However, I will note the link to your tutorial, should I need it again.

I am spoiled.  In the old versions of Premiere Elements, all you had to do was to go to a certain page, chose between four or five options and click on the button "Burn".
