Can't import MP4 (H.265) to Adobe Premiere Elements 15

Hello.I have a problem with DJI Mavic Pro 2 files. I can't import MP4 (H.265) video files on my Adobe Premiere Elements 15. It prompts a message: "This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed." How do I solve this issue? Does Adobe Premiere Elements 15 work with MP4 (H.265) type files?

"Would Premiere Elements 15 be updated to support H.265 video..."

No.  Premiere Elements was created before H.265 had any importance.

Before you spend any money on Premiere Elements 2020, be sure to take advantage of the free trial.  The primary purpose of H.265 is compression to smaller files.  That adds workload to the CPU and may cause slowness or other issues.

A common alternative is to use the (free) Handbrake program to convert from H.265 to more common H.264 MP4 files.

Thank you guys for all the tips you've shared! I'll try converting with HandBrake this time, and will consider Elements 2020 for the future.

Assuming you're using Windows 10, you can try installing this HEVC codec.

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/hevc-decoding-on-windows.html

But the program will probably still not be able to use it. That is, as I said, a feature that's only been added in version 2020.

Most likely these are H.265 Mp4s. To find out for sure, open one of your MP4s in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the report it generates and paste it to this forum.

H.265 video was not supported by Premiere Elements until version 2020.
