cannot load project file

Question

i am trying to load a previously created project file for export in elements 2021. i have had no problems downloading it before but now i get a box saying file is not supported codec not loaded. on the box to select a file are buttons "skip", "skip all", "offline" and "offline all". these are files ripped from a dvd I recorded off the tv and all the others i have done worked fine. and these worked before. any idea what may have happened? Thanks

If you are getting an unsupported codec message it is because you are trying to import not open a projec file.

Project files (.prel files) are opened by going to File/Open. They are not opened by selecting Add Media.

Once a project file is opened, the program will look for links to the media files. If, on opening the .prel file, you get indications that it can't find the associated media files, it is because your video or audio files have beeen moved or removed from your hard drive. These video and audio files must be on your hard drive in order for you to edit this project.
