Catalog backup on external hard drive- why the catalog disappeared each time i'm removing the ext hard drive

i'm backing up my catalog to external hard drive

next i'm removing the external hard drive

next time i will open the same catalog- it will be empty and i will have to restore it

note that the source files are all in the PC itself and the restore process is to the external drive

what i'm doing wrong? i don't want the hard disk to always be connected to the PC!

If the restore process is to the external drive, both the media files AND the catalog folder will be restored on the external drive.

After such a restore, you are free to move the catalog folder back to the default location on the internal drive. Use the the move option of the catalog manager and choose the location for all users. Note that you can copy or move the catalog folder from the explorer or finder somewhere else. A double click on the database file ( catalog.pseXXdb) will open the organizer with that catalog.
