Clips in timeline are automatically sped up

I am trying to edit a video and all my clips are sped up when I put them into the timeline. Its like I hit the fast forward function a couple times and I cannot find a way to reverse it.

Make sure Default Input in the Audio Hardware in the Preferences is set to No Input.

Many users are having issues with VFR. If the file is variable frame rate, use Handbrake to convert to constant frame rate:
