Comparing Premiere Elements 2018 / 24 / 25

I gave up using Premiere Elements Video Editor because the constant rendering drove me mad on Mac and Windows! In the meanwhile I used Filmora 13 to edit my videos but they are a nightmare and even if I had a Lifetime License they started to make everything paid, which was awfully unfair. I now have a very powerful Windows 11 laptop and decided to install Elements 2018 again and the rendering problem is gone. My question is, I can go on using this one, but would also like to hear from those who have used 2024 and 2025 whether it is worth it to go for one of those instead. Are there are lot more Effects, Transitions and Titles and are there maybe other plus points that make it worthwile for me to buy one of them? I make music videos using my own recordings, so I don't need any sound effects but need auto-sync, film with green screen, regularly use keyframes and basically love making very artistic videos. Thanks for all the information you can give me!!!

Your version (and, I think 2024) comes with a serial number so you may install and use as long as your computer works

V2025 is now a 3 year subscription, so it stops working after 3 years

I don't know exactly when it was removed (I have v2021) but the newest versions will not make a DVD... if that is important to you

If what you have does what you want I would say keep it... and now that 2025 is out you can't buy 2024

Hi John, many tanks for your reply. Yes, I know that 2018 and 2014 are Perpetual Licenses and 2025 is a 3 year licence but that does not bother me too much, as the price is reasonable. So, I have the 2018, therefore I don't have to pay for it, 2024 can now be bought from some sites for around £40 and 2025 would be around £20 a year for three years, so not horrendous, if it gives me extra feaures that might be handy. I don't need a DVD because my computer does not have a player. What I hope to hear from users is what extra features might be very handy, like related to AI, auto-sync, which 2018 does not have although it seems that it is possible to do it in some other way. I can do a trial for 2025, not 2024, but if I have an idea about what to look for I will put the 7 days to good use, rather than trying to learn everything by myself. I know that 2025 is quite different. But does 2024 have more Effects, transitions and effects, for example (2025 seems to have more), and whatever more. If I buy any of the two newer versions I would like to buy the best one, even if I pay slightly more. Filmora, for example, did add very handy AI Tools, but then took most of the Effects, Transitions and Titles that I had paid for away. Outrageous!

Based on your two posts, the one thing you will find missing is "auto-sync" for multi camera shoots.   Although Premiere Elements is good at managing multiple tracks it will not line them up like can be done with Premiere Pro.   There are plenty of effects, transitions and titles for creative work.   There are so some new things I like including enhanced text controls for dynamic titles, improved color correction tools including a White Balance tool and color correction curves, and the ability to adjust footage color with LUTs and access to some free Adobe Stock title templates.
