Crash on Export - Adobe Premiere Elements 2024

Context

I record videos on my GoPro 12's and I do some very simple editing in them. Most of the times it's just merging them together, nothing fancy at all. Everything was good until beginning of July, around that time Premier Elements just started crashing during export. It usually crashes around the ~70% progress mark. Any suggestions on what to do? 

 

Examples

Merging 3 videos (one after the other), all 1080p 60fps :

  • File 1: 10.6 GB, ~23:30
  • File 2: 10.6 GB, ~23:30
  • File 3: 2.42 GB, ~5:20

Exporting to (same as source):

  • Resolution: 1920x1080
  • Format: H.264
  • Frame Rate: 59.94
  • Audio: AAC, 160 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo
  • Duration 46 Min, 49.49 Sec
  • Aspect Ratio 16:9

 

Specs

  • Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K
  • RAM:  64.0GB
  • Motherboard:  Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z790 AERO G (U3E1) 
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
  • Storage (SSD1😞  2.0 TB (1.28 TB available) [Where Premiere Elements is installed]
  • (SSD2): 2.0 TB (0.97 TB available) [Where source videos are and output is exported]

Hey Buddy, I too have i9 14th 14900k and it was crashing same while doing heavy work like Render or export in Premiere or After Effects. Somehow I changes few settings in BIOS and it was better but now INTEL has sorted the issue and all you have to do ir to update your BIOS mannualy. Go to your motherboard provider site and download the latest Beta version of BIOS and install that. 

Its fixed. I have updated mine and its working perfectly fine.

What changed... did the problem start after a Windows update?

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter

-for all Adobe programs use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver

It is hard to tell. I don't remember exactly when it started happening.

My drivers are updated, and for editing I do use the STUDIO drivers. It still crashes.

I think the challenge is the 60 fps HEVC file. I'm not sure Premiere Elements can work with this type of video natively.

 

When you place the video on your timeline, is the line above the clip yellow or orange? If it's yellow, the program is able to conform to the file and it should work very efficiently. If it's orange, something is wrong and the program is not able to assimilate the video natively.

You can provide us detailed specs of your source video by opening it in the free download MediaInfo.

 

In MediaInfo, set View to Text and copy the full report it generates and paste it to this forum. With this detailed information we'll better be able to offer advice.
