Customisation of Keyboard Shortcuts in APE 2025

I am a very old APE user, using it since last 10 years or so.

I made changes to keyboard shortcuts based on my needs to ease my editing process. In APE2025, I am missing 2 things most and would appreciate if anyone could guide me how I can accomplish the same.

  • There was a thing called Split Clip and I have assigned the button Q with the function in previous version of APE. So this is how it worked. While a footage is selected, I could just keep my video playback cursor anywhere and press Q, it would split the footage. If no footage is selected but I press the Q button, it splits all the footages under the playback cursor. Now I do not find the split function. To do that I need to select the Scissor tool and click on the footage to split up. If there are multiple footages in my timeline, I have to split them manually. This is more time consuming and I need the split clip function work with shortcut as I used it before. I really need this.
  • There was another function called Delete and Close Gap. I have assigned that with the key W. Let me explain how it worked there. In the timeline say there are 1 video footage and bellow there are 2 audio footages. When I select one of them and press W, it removes the video but do not do anything to the audio footages. But when I select 2 of them and press W it Deletes 2 of them and closed the gap with the next footages. In APE2025, I can see many delete options. Clear, Delete, Ripple Delete etc. Now 1 easy job has been distributed into 3 separate options. Is there any way I can ease this?

Here is the shortcut customisation code from previous version of APE, which worked fine so far, but I truly need help how to port this into APE2025, so that I do not have to go through a lot of learning curve.

Thanks again 💛

Do you know how I can find the customised keyboad shortcut file for future backups?

How? Use Windows explorer search and type in .kys in Documents.

There is no Split clip but rather Add Edit > Ctlr + K.

Delete and close gap > Shift + Delete

I deleted the KBSC file (too long) as Elements kbsc is different from the previous Pro versions.

WOW!

You just solved my problem. The delete thing I have made some way around and working fine.

Can you please suggest how I can customise zoom in/out with mouse wheel? Like Holding Ctrl then scroll would zoom in/out?

Zoom in/out > Alt + scroll
