Dip to Black transition

I just started using Premiere Elements 2024.  I split a clip, and applied the Dip to Black transition, and centered it at the split.  As desired, the video on the left of the split faded out to black, and the video on the right faded in from black.  But the audio attached to the video (original recorded audio) didn’t get touched.  There were no fades at all, in or out.  Is this the way this transition works?  Do I have to fade the audio track separately?

As you've found, Fade to Black is a video effect.  To get both audio and video to fade I often use the Fade menu that comes up when you right click on a clip.  It gives you options for both audio and video.  It also gives you keyframe (little movable dots) that let you fine tune what you want.
