Editing in PE 2020 off Gopro 7 black HEVC

Hi all,

Not sure if this question posted so I will try again.

I have PE 2020, 16Gb ram, 64 bit processor, Nvidia graphics card, new computer.

I loaded PE for editing Gopro hero7 black in HEVC.  Couldnt. Loaded extension reader  ..all was well for first edit. Next edit, the HEVC files did arrive in my media assets collection for edit.  ..but....appear as several layers of severely squashed images ....basically diagonal lines.....and video plays back in the same manner.  The only way I could do anything with files was to recode using handbrake to  264. I want to utilise my HEVC capability as quality was lost results were terrible.

So far I have; run windows updates, gpu updates, tried the system drivers solution suggested on this forum but still the diagonal lines.  Has anyone had this issue?

Hi @Jo5CE4,

There was a bug for 2.7k HEVC go pro media in Premiere Elements 2020, which has now been fixed in Premiere Elements 2021.

Please let us know if you are facing the above issue with other resolutions as well.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Hi Anubhav

I am only shooting 2.7k as 4k doesn't support image stabilisation on this gopro (so it says on the camera) and the others are just too low.
I am able to make videos run in h264, not surprising, but HEVC a problem.
Adobe should just send affected customers with 2021 upgrade and fix the problem properly . This has wasted hours of my time.
Thank you for replying.

Can you help fix it?

Regards
Jo

What is your video's frame rate and resolution? 4K HEVC at more than 30 fps is not supported by the program.

Hi,
I'm shooting g in 2.7 k 30fps.
The silly thing is it worked fine when I first loaded the 99c extension reader off Microsoft but on second use the described problems happened.
Cheers
