First attempt, side by side videos on same screen

So I tried using this tutorial - https://filmora.wondershare.com/video-editing-tips/premiere-elements-how-to-combine-videos.html .....but that doesn't apparently tell me what I'm wanting to do....

 

I have one video playing from the start, and then about 7 seconds in or so, I would like to have a 2nd video 'slide' into the left half of the screen and half both videos playing for the remainder of the video, each occupying 50% of the screen. Can someone give direct me to a tutorial on how to do that?

well, I found a tutorial that was precisely what I was wanting to do (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcU8D-BC8pA), but I am stunned there isn't a far, far less 'click and drag experiment to get the exact results you want!'

Thanks...I should've checked your videos first lol...I have them saved now....That should do it, as that's kind of what I want to do....one other question...the two seperate videos have the greenscreen effect with background video...the 1st video clip that I started with in the project works great, but when I try to add a different background video for the 2nd clip, clicking and dragging the 'chroma key' fx button onto that 2nd clip , it does not seem to allow me to drop it onto the clip (has the little circel with the line thru it)....I'm wondering if I may have to make 2nd clips chroma key effect produced outside of this project and then bring it into this project with the chroma key effect already on it? The only question would be, can you save it as an .mp4 or .MOV or whatever or is the only way is the safe as with the adobe project file extension?

omg....you have to be kidding....the hoops to jump through?...just to have a 100% full screened video slide aside 7 seconds into the video, to take up 50% of the screen for a second video to take up the other 50%, with NO cropping...and maintain the horizontal and vertical perspective of the original? That HAS to be easier than this stuff!  lol I have spent over an hour getting the nuttiest results with the goofy 'crop' thing...I don't WANT to crop anything...just animatedly bump the original full screen video over to take up one half of the screen while another comes in on the right, both maintaining their original perspective...shouldn't this be easy and doable without cropping anything?
