Fixing blown out/distorted audio in Premiere elments

I'm trying to create content which is a one time shoot sort of deal.  In doing that I'm fighting with my audio equipment.  With my two lav mics, one has consistently been getting blown out audio, maxed and becoming distorted.

How can I fix this within Adobe premiere elements.  I've been playing with the audio tools trying to fix it, but the software keeps crashing and it is becoming very frustrating.  So I'm reaching out to the community.  All the tutorials I've found online are for Premiere pro.  I have no doubt it would be simple to use pro to fix my issues with all the great apps. I don't have Pro.

TL:DR;  The audio I have recorded is too loud and is distorted, how do I save my audio quality with elements?

Ann is right.  Bad audio is very hard to fix.  Probably impossible.  One tool that might help is the (free) program called Audacity.  There are plenty of tutorials that might get you started.  If it is seriously blown out and distorted, it means part of it is missing and can't really be replaced.

The basic work flow is to export just the audio, put it in audacity and bring it back to PrE.  Then put it on another audio track and mute the audio on the video track.  Don't trim anything.  They have to line up!

Good audio starts at the source.

You cannot fix too loud or distorted audio with software.
