Question

Freeze up until I RENDER?

This keeps driving me crazy.
The video display on Premiere Elements 2022 keeps freezing up, about every 5-7 minutes of editing.

The only way to get it to work again is to hit the RENDER and wait 5 minutes. So frustating, does this happen to anyone else?
Editing a 4k video - Playback is on Auto
AMD Threadripper 2950x, 32GB memory,  NVideo GTX 1080

Any suggestions?

Thank you

You are not alone with problems using Premier Elements 2022. I use Windows 11, and the software in my opinion is not good. Non stop problems trying to render 4k videos, program closing down, non stop issues. Original versions of Premier Elements were ok. But this version especially on Windows 11 is a shocker.

My guess would be that there is a mismatch in source footage and project settings making the real time preview engine overload.  There also a couple setting on the General Preference page that could help.  Try the one for "lower quality" previews.

Do not count on Windows to be fully up to date when it comes to device drivers
Go to the vendor site to be sure you have an updated driver for your graphic adapter
nVidia Driver Downloads https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
-for Premiere Pro (and MAYBE Premiere Elements) use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
If you have a laptop you MAY also need to check for a laptop specific nVidia driver
