Question

GoPro videos are only importing as audio in Premiere Elements 13

My wife and I just got back from a trip and are wanting to edit some of the footage we captured from our GoPro HERO9 Black 5K. I've inserted the memory card, saved the files to my PC, and attempt to import the MP4 videos into Premiere Elements 13, but when I do, only the audio shows up in Premiere. I am able to watch the videos on Windows Movie & TV as well as VLC Media Player, but I'm not able to view edit them in Premiere Elements 13. I've attached a screenshot showing a video file showing up as an audio file in Premiere. Any help would be appreciated.

Premiere Elements 13 is getting a little old by video editing standards.  The GoPro is newer than your editing software.  In order for GoPro's unique special effects to work, GoPro uses some uncommon specifications.  Unless you set the GoPro to "most editable" settings, your version of Premiere Elements is probably not going to work due to high frame rates, variable frame rates and maybe the use of H.264 codec.

You can get newer editing software or (probably) convert what you have to more editable versions.  Use the (free) program called HandBrake.  If you decide to buy new software, be sure to test your footage in the trial versions.
