Question

Handbrake saves PE 2024 from the dustbin but why?

Pre PE 2024 i used to reduce the size of exported files from PE15 using Handbrake. Prior to loading them to Vimeo.. But PE2024 has its own optimizer now so since September 2023 i have stopped using Handbrake. - still record an hour and  a half film  in PE4 format each month with my Sony A6500 camera but now i can process it with my newly purchased  PE2024 running on me new mega PC with AMD 7900 12 cores and Win11. I now let Adobe do the optimizing. - super! Worked fine for - Sept , Oct. Nov, Dec,  Jan24, Feb24.

Then something must have happened in February 2024 that is now causing PE2024 to repeatedly fail to export any files..

After many aborted efforts to fix it.  - increased work areas, seperate drives for program, data and final file, massive additional swap area, shorter 20Minute PE4 files, simpler files with fewer edits, even  no edits.. Refreshed video drivers ,  fresh PE2024 install. Checked that Win 23H2 installed OK. Questions on this board.. Nothi9ng has fixed it.  PE2024 will not export my files.  I was at my wits end - Even started looking at other software packages as my next film is due 14th April!

Then i had a flash of inspiration - Could Handbrake still process the files? - Yes it could

So could Adobe now process the Handbrake PE4 files?- Yes it can!

Yippee Handbrake has saved the day

Its a silly way to "fix" adobe PE2024 but what other choices do i have?

Allan

Can you open a clip that didn't need Handbrake from an old project and one that needed Handbrake (before conversion) in MediaInfo and post screenshots of tree view:

Gosh - sorry so slow replying - ive been editing films.

you requested pre and post handbrake.

    1) "Screenshot mediaInfo didn't need handbrake "
was the last file that worked, issue free, before the PE2024 updates and
    before needed to use Handbrake.

    2) "Screenshot mediaInfo video that failed pre handbrake mah08327"
this was the first file to fail and only worked after putting it through
    Handbrake.

    3) "Screenshot mediaInfo after handbrake fixed it mah08327-v2"
This file failed at first then after handbrake (file name is now -v2) it
worked fine. - this was still pre the Pe2024 updates.

Many thanks for asking and I appreciate your time investigating this. - i
will be quicker responding if there is anything else you need from me

p.s since the updates pe 2024 is processing the same cameras files with the
    same settings problem free.

    Many thanks

There are no screenshots in your reply.

Make sure to add them from a computer, not a mobile device.

    I don't see PE4 listed in the A6500 specs:

    What format are you shooting?

That makes more sense.  Now I better understand what you are saying.   I'm sure you know this but MP4 is a container full of variety, includiIng codecs.  It is possible that something changed in the recording settings.   As you say, it is also possible that something changed in Premiere Elements.  In the end, it appears that you have it working and that is a good thing.

Not sure if anyone reads these messages.

It seems that anything thats not the fault of the user gest ignored. - As has this one

So Nobody accepted that Adone premier elements 2024 was faulty despite my messages and holding proof.

When i asked about Adobe updates - again i was asked WHY. Then told they normally come out in September. Wrong!

Adobe Premiere Elements 2024 WAS indeed unable to export files in Win 11 since March 2024.

The "usual" update in September happened in April and was 2 updates. They have fixed the problem, that no one was prepared to accept actually existed.

Its very sad but this community failed abysmally.

O well  cost nothing so expect nothing.

    Bye

There are a half dozen people that read these message on the Premiere Elements forum a few times each day.  They include me, Ann, Steve, Bob and John.  None work for Adobe.  All are users that enjoy sharing help where we can.

Several things make it hard sometimes.   Some issues, like yours, are hard to duplicate.  Sometimes the written description is hard to understand.

None of the forum volunteers have any access to the developers.  Like with all Adobe products, customers can opt in to having error and use reports sent to the developers.  In this case, it seems that your issue was fixed that way.

It seems that you are unhappy with our efforts.  I'm sorry about that.

No i was not opening an old project from a previous version. Hence that is not valid.

It was new video 4@just under 30minutes each (same camera as used for last 6 years and same settings of mp4) these had worked for Oct Nov Dec Jan and Feb on PE 2024 -

i should apologies for being obviously negative but the facts are negative.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
