HEVC not uploading to Elements correctly

Hello,

I'm a bit new to the forums so please bare with me! I'm trying to edit my videos and the file types I'm uploading to Elements are all HEVC. When I move the media into the project, the files only come up as audio files. Am I missing something? Is handbrake the answer? Will I lose my quality if I use handbrake? Thanks in advanced. !
