Question

How can I get rid of the white background here?

So I've got a stock image of a toy and I'm looking to get rid of the white area in the top right and left corners so that it's transparent and not blocky on the video clip. I'm super new to this program and am not having any luck with the crop feature. I've been trying to draw a border around it and everything, does anyone know how exactly to do this?

Any help would be MUCH appreciated as I'm wasting a ton of time. Thanks!!

No need for Photoshop.

Mask the image with the pentool from Opacity.

Will take a bit of practice.

Or take a circle and rectangular mask from Opacity and adjust the points

Oh nice, I will try that, thank you! I haven't used the opacity before.

You have a still image, not a video clip.  To my knowledge, Premiere Elements will not do what you want.  The tools to make the corners transparent in a still image are in Photoshop or Photoshop elements.   I've not done it for awhile, but it would be a project for layers and masking.  Once the corners are transparent, the file could then be used in Premiere Elements.

Oh man darn. I was able to do it on a circular image by messing around with crop and drawing a circle and then inverting it. I was hoping there was a simlar method for non circular objects.

I see the draw button and I've been messing around with it and all the various options, but I haven't had any luck.

Keep at it!  You may find something that works.  When you used the word "transparent" it keyed a specific concept in Photoshop.
