How do I get my audio interface to connect to Premiere elements 14?

I am using Premiere Elements 14 to capture live video from a webcam and would like to get my audio thru an alternate interface (tascam US-16x08).

I am able to find and select the interface in the capturing source but when I hit record, no audio gets recorded. It also seems like Premiere keeps crashing when i try this method. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably not going to work that way.

You'll likely have to record your audio with a program like Audacity (a free download), save it as a WAV file and then import the WAV file into Premiere Elements.
