Question

How do I keep the Applied Effects/Motion menu open while working?

I've been using Premiere Elements since version 10 and there is an interface bug that

remains unfixed.  It is so maddening that I'm on the verge of abandoning the program.

If there is a workaround can anyone tell me?

I'm doing motion graphics with images on many different video tracks.

When I want to adjust an image I open the Applied Effects/Motion panel.

But when I go to adjust the motion of another image even on the same video track,

the Applied Effects/Motion panel snaps shut -- and I have to reopen it again.

How do you keep it open?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to snap it open again?

Why all the snapping?  Just let it behave and stay open.

Actually, a number of people expressed concern when Adobe first tweaked the interface way back in version 7.

But as Ann says, simply asking rhetorical questions on this forum won't make it happen. You need to contact Adobe.

Do they let themselves be contacted for consumer software issues and suggestions?

If you have a link, please post it here.

And thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

I'd like to stay with the software, but it's very hard to do so

given the software's behavior.

Have to agree that is annoying.

I will pass this on the Elements team.

With the greatest of respect to Adobe and the Premiere Elements team, am I the first person to have asked about this problematic feature?

Over the years I've been using Premiere Elements for my professional work -- it's does everything I need and it's a breeze to use.  But I can also tell you that, over the years (from version 10 onwards) I've probably lost days if not weeks of time constantly re-opening adjustment panels that snap shut in the middle of an edit.

By now everyone knows about  the competition in the video editing software market.

How can Adobe (bless them) not fix such a blatant disregard for value of the user's time?

How can I bill a client by the hour, when so much time is spent wrestling with the software?

Forget about the moral obligation to fix this problem.

It's also bad business.

If nobody complains to Adobe then Adobe wont do anything about it.

This setting is not a Premiere Elements feature.
