How to Change Frame Size in Existing Project

1. Shot video in 4k.

2. Edited clips, using motion for close ups.

3. Exported for YouTube, etc.

BUT, now I want to take the same project and convert it to square size. When I select a clip and click on Project Settings>General, frame size dimensions are grayed out.

Can this be done? I don't want to have to import the prior exported video because then I won't have the clip cuts. Help?

This is kind of tricky, since Premiere Elements has no simple way to change project settings mid-project.

There are ways to "hack" the project file using Notepad, but that's a bit clumsy.

Premiere Elements also won't let you copy media from one project to another. Although there are clipboard extenders (like Clipmate) available online that might help you there.

Maybe the easiest solution is to output your 4K project as 16:9 or whatever, then start a new, square project and use the MP4 you output from your 4K project as media in the square project.

Thanks, Steve. The latter solution is what I've started doing. But jeez, that's horrible. I have had to add markers to every cut, copy/paste that time stamp to a Word doc, export the 4K file, create a Square project with Force checked, then import the 4K file.

THEN, create markers at those same places because those are essential cuts that require zooming in.

Is there a better way to do the marker part? A way to export/import clip cuts?

Not that I'm aware of.
