How to change image proportions in scanned old 8mm film?

Hi,

 

I recently had several old (1938-42) 8mm home reels scanned professionally. The video seems to be stretched horizontally. How can I re-proportion the video frame to correspond to the original proportions, which I gather were 1.4:1 for that film?

 

Using iMac and Mojave.
