how to fix sequence setting error in premiere elements?

Hi, I’m a Newbie!!!!

I'm getting an error message about “Sequence Settings Mismatch” in Premiere Elements 2026. This only happens as I’m working on a video a friend sent me. Most of the articles/videos I find about the best way to fix it only apply to Pro, not Elements. Any suggestions?

Please start fresh and drop the video in an empty timeline.

Screenshots would help or the Sequence settings and media propertie.

Most simple solution is to start with a empty (any) timeline. Drag the video into this timeline and say yes to Change Sequence Settings.

Thanks. I don’t think I even new what a sequence was until this error popped up.

Hmm… when you import a video and drop it on the timeline PrEl is SUPPOSED to create a matching sequence, so I don’t know why you are not seeing that functionality

HOWEVER… PrEl does not work well with VFR (Variable Frame Rate) video

Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the program below
Free program to get file information for PC/Mac http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
    - a MediaInfo tutorial https://youtu.be/Ivy9ckSX1M0
    - when you analyze your file in MediaInfo and post a screen shot in the forum, do so in TREE view
    - post your information IN your message, not as an attachment that someone would have to download
    .
Does your video use a Variable Frame Rate?
If yes, use https://handbrake.fr/ open source transcoder/converter to convert to Constant Frame Rate
