Question

How to use effect mask by keyframing in PE2021

I want to use effect mask (blur, pixelate, etc.) for selected time segments ( e.g. time 1-2 min and then 3-4 min) of the video clip. Not the whole.

Found a crude way of doing it by cutting the video and applying effect mask to the cut portion only.

Is there way to use keyframing to achieve my objective?

Thank you, A

If you're asking how to blur a face in a video, here's my way.

Thanks for pointers, Steve! That is a nifty way...

I have already have PE 2021 which  incorporated moving mask, though.

In your tutorial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlKUJzgcz94

you describe such work BUT for the entire clip.

What I need to do is to use a mask (blurring or other type) at different times of an entire clip for specified amounts of time only.

So if clip is 5 min I would like to use mask (tracking and/or not tracking) ONLY between let'say 1 and 2 min AND between 3 and 4 min.

I wonder if that can be done just by using keyframing, without cutting the full clip into the separate sub-clips and applying the masks only to those subclips, and then combining all sub-clips together.

Thanks, A
