I can't load videos onto Premiere Elements 14

Hi there.

I've been having trouble getting videos loaded onto Adobe Premiere Elements 14 and it is kinda bothersome. The files are .mp4 and I've tried more than one way to get them on the video editor. I've tried loading it directly from my phone, getting the files from my external Hard Drive, I've even gone to my Google Photos and Drive to get them down from the cloud, but no matter how I get the files, I always get, "The importer reported a generic error."

I've cleaned out my cache and made some room on my NEW computer, but keep running into the same problem. My computer is running on an AMD Ryzen 7 processor and contains 8GB of RAM, so the software should be able to run with no hassle.

I really need help. If I can't get this situated, I won't be able to continue making content.

I found out what went wrong.

The version I was using to get my videos loaded was outdated. I needed to get the latest version.

Explaination: In Premiere Elements 14, it was made upto 2015. From 2015 to May 2018, I was loading video files from my Samsung Galaxy S5. Worked very well.

Now I'm using a Pixel 2 XL, which was made in October 2017. When I was loading the video files from my phone, that's when the error appeared.

My theory on the problem was that I'm transferring files from a later phone model that Premiere Elements 14 probably didn't recognize; Thus the error, "The importer reported a generic error". I figured the solution would be to go and get the latest version of the software so my phone would be compatible with it.

To my expectations, it was exactly that. When I tried loading the same files to the 2018 version, it was successful.

To those who are having similar issues with their Premiere Elements: There are more than one ways to determine what's wrong with the file(s), but if you're using a camera or phone that was released later than the version you're using, it's most likely that your phone/camera is not compatible with the version you're using and it might be time to get an upgrade.

If that doesn't work, definitely seek for other solutions, but I would say to maybe see if it's just your version is compatible or not.

If the files are variable frame rate, you may need to convert with Handbrake before importing into Premiere Elements:
