Question

Import function does not find duplicates if files have been moved.

I organize my images by year taken folders, then date-event folders.. I import my images from my camera’s SD card plugged into my Windows 11 system. When I import them I set the location to my main image location and subfolders: E:\Pictures\<year>\<Shot date>

Then, if needed I move the images into dates-event folder, say, 2024-Grand Canyon. Which may be a multi-day trip.

I’m pretty sure if I didn’t move them, PSE would find ones I already imported. But because I moved them to different folders, if I again import from the same SD card to import newer images, PSE doesn’t find the older ones as duplicates.

Is there a way to enable PSE 2022 to find these moved duplicates? Or am I limited to deselecting the already imported images in the import dialog.

What happens if you use the Organizer rather than your operating system to capture and move your media? This should allow the Organizer to better track and facilitate your cutting and pasting.
