Importing assets as files, not folders

I am using Primiere Elements 2022. Sussenly when I import a file to the project assets list, it shows up in a separate folder in the assets list, not simply as a file.. What Have I done wrong? How can I reset my assets to accept these additions as simply files, not as folders?

The Add Media screen does say Import Folder............

The program won't do this automatically. There is no setting that will make this happen.

What are the steps you're using to import your files? It appears you're choosing to import a folder of files rather than individual files.
