Importing mp4 makes it lower quality?

Hello, I was recording a video on OBS and it looked fine, the quality was very good. Then I put it into my timeline (I use 'Adobe Premiere Elements 2019'), and it instantly became lower quality, and looks pretty bad. Please assist me with this.

    When you add the video clip to your timeline, do you see a yellow-orange "render" line above the clip on the timeline?

    Yes, and I render it as soon as I put it in usually.

    The low quality preview you see in the Monitor panel is just that -- a low quality preview. It does not represent how your final output will look nor does it indicate that your video's quality has been reduced.

    Try using Export & Share/Devices/Computer/1920x1080 to output and MP4. Its quality should be virtually the same as your original footage.

    It appears that your screen recorder is using a codec that may not be supported by Premiere Elements and/or the program has not automatically matched its settings to your video specs.

    In Premiere Elements, look under the Edit menu. What is listed on the General page under Project Settings?

    It sounds like your project settings do not match your video specs -- which happens pretty often when you're using screen recording software that records to a non-standard editing codec.

    Open one of your videos in the free download MediaInfo.In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the report the program generates and paste it to this forum.

    Once we know what your video's specs are, we'll be be better able to advise you.
