Importing video is extremely slow.

Hello:

I am having trouble importing videos from my SD card into Premiere Elements 15.  The software just hangs at "Copying Media 16%" for hours at a time before moving forward. What used to take minutes, is now taking days.

I am importing from a Nikon Cool Pix P610 camera (MOV files)

Any Idea what the trouble could be ?

My computer and OS Specs:

• Windows 10 Home  (64 bit,  x64-based processor)
• Version 1709
• Computer is: HPE-210y (Hewlett Packard)
• Processor: AMD Phentom (tm) II X4 945 (3GHz)
