Question

In Premiere Elements 2024 my Project Assets panel doesn't open anymore.

A blue underline shows up under Project Assets but panel doesn't open. Tried the following: restart app, run as administrator, toggled between Quick View and Expert, Reset Application Data Folder by changing 24.0 to24.0.old, updated Nvidia driver, disabled hardware acceleration, cleared cache files, hovered with mouse and didn't find double arrows to expand  panel, even re-installed Premiere Elements 2024. Got to open the panel after install but once I loaded any of the projects made before, the panel doesn't open. What to try next? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Bill and Steve.  After 3 days of troubleshooting I solved it and I’m posting this so that it may help others. As no live agent was around during the weekend, I used Microsoft Pilot AI on Edge browser and went through so many exercises: Restore Workspace, update Nvidia graphics driver, disabled hardware acceleration, added media to it,  reset application data folder,  changed settings on my anti-virus Ransomware protection to enable Premier Elements to write xml files into my protected folders, created new Windows user account in case profile was corrupted and  migrated personal data, cleaned out with Creative Cloud Cleaner tool, re-installed.

Root cause: Corrupted layout.  When I opened the Project Assets panel I moved it to another part of the screen and may have even moved it to the 2nd monitor.  Adobe Premiere thinks the panel is still open hence the blue underline but perhaps couldn’t render it making it say 1 pixel length.

Solution:  While I spent so much time looking for global corrupted parameter, it was in fact just the local project folder contents that was corrupted. How did I know? I moved the .prel (Premiere Elements) file with the source media only to my laptop from the desktop and it opened on the laptop. I also created a new project after a fresh re-install  and it opened even on the desktop but the moment I loaded the old/current project, the panel was stuck again.

Fix:  Deleted all the corrupted project-level generated files and folders which included Previews, Encoded Files, Captured Audio, Captured Video, and especially Layout folder.

Tip: Before any re-installs be sure to log out first. A few years back, I think the Adobe server didn’t know it’s the same computer so then I had to call, wait an hour for support and they helped me get back on track.  I used Microsoft Co-Pilot but I think any of your favorite AI tools can help in troubleshooting. Rightly or wrongly I figured that the Co-pilot would have more experience with all the interactions with Windows and it gave more ideas than the Google Gemini for this particular problem.

I opened 2024 on my computer and it works like it should.   Can you try adding media by using the “File” drop down menu?  And, maybe there is a clue if you post a screenshot.

Try going to the program’s Window menu and selecting Restore Workspace.
