Interrupted Narration

I am trying to record narration over the video I'm creating in Premiere. However, the recording process repeatedly stops after 20-30 seconds. I thought maybe the issue was a lengthy silence (1 second), but tried it w/out taking a breath. Same issue. I tried playing a song into the microphone. Same thing.

Please advise. I've tried an external usb microphone as well.

As I've seen in other discussions about the narration, I've  not had this problem in Windows Movie Maker.

Can't really help you if you don't answer our questions.

I'm guessing the CPU can't keep up with video processing and halts. While you may have had better success with movie maker--it suffers in many other areas. I've had this issue with an older machine--i've upgrade to an i7 and that fixed it. Few want to upgrade so record your audio track outside Adobe using Audacity. I either write a script or watch my vid play and record. Once recorded in Audacity, you can edit the narration (remove bad takes), cleanup pops and gum smacks, set equalization etc.

This tutorial shows how to use the narration feature, but again I'd record directly to Audacity. This tut does show so neat features for when you do integrate your narration.

If you don't have a good mic, here's a studio grade mic for around $70

    Hope this helps.

This is a brand new computer with an i7 processor. I intentionally

purchased this computer from Dell. The adobe preniere software was the

video editing software Dell offered as a package with their computers. I

assumed there was a partnership between Dell and Adobe to guarantee

    seemless utilization of software.

I did it pay almost $400 for a software program that necessitates cut and

    pasting from another program.

Please advise as to next steps.

I feel ya. Having the same problem. I'm pretty unhappy with Premiere and with Adobe support. It's not okay.

It could be some sort of resource issue.

How is your microphone connected to your computer? Is it plugged into a microphone port or USB?

What processor do you have with how much RAM? How much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive?

What antivirus program are you running? Programs like Norton can interrupt processes like this and, with Premiere Elements, when the program is interrupted, it stops.

    Try Audacity® instead.
