Question

Is my processor man enough for the latest Elements?

I have a Ryzen 9 3900XT processor and 32GB memory. I have been using Elements 15 but now I need to embrace H265 all the time. Will this processor be ok with the new Elements 2026?

Whatever pc you have 4K H.265 will be a rough ride.

If you have a choice set phone? to H.264

    and up to 64 gig.

Your processor rates a 32,000 on these benchmarks. That should be enough to handle even 4K video editing. Assuming by that you’re editing 3840x2160 at 30 fps. Premiere Elements won’t edit 60 fps 4K very well.

You also mentioned h.265. Depending on the source of these files, Premiere Elements may also struggle with them.

    It will likely be OK.

Download and install the trial and you will know for sure.

Thank for your posts but on doing a great deal of research, I have decided it is time to jump ship. I didn’t realise APE was now on a licensing model and that 2024 was the last perpetual licence. I refuse to pay over and over again for a licence for anything, be they Adobe, Microsoft or anything else. I am not a business and I make no money from my hobby.

Also I have been reading that Cyberlink Power Director uses the GPU better than APE and rendering for example can be 2x or 4x faster. APE is known to be good for beginners but I hope I have been doing this long enough to make suitable use of PD.

I shall miss this forum which has been very helpful in the past but after around 25 years with Premiere, the time has come to try something else. Thanks.

What kind of video are you editing?
    Standard    720   x 480    DVD Resolution
    720p        1,280 x 720    High Definition
    1080p        1,920 x 1,080    Full High Definition
    4k        3,840 x 2,160    Ultra-High Definition
    8k        7,680 x 4,320    New, not widely used
-hint 4k/8k video on an underpowered computer will not play well
