I highlighted a clip --- hit Control H to rename the clip, but nothing happens. What might I be doing wrong?

Correct answer Bill Sprague

No, sadly. Using Control G --- also in the edit menu --- does work to group clips, so it's not a universal keyboard shortcut issue. Just the Renaming. Damn!

PrE 2023.   I highlighted a clip on the timeline and pressed CTRL+H and nothing happened.  I went to the Keyboard Customization page and deleted the CTRL+H making in blank.  Then I added it back in and pressed OK.  Now it works!

  • To restore default preference settings, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.
  • To restore default preference settings and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. Release the Shift-Alt keys or Shift-Option key when the splash screen appears.

Thank you. Can you help me understand how this applies to my question? I haven't changed default settings, so shouldn't Control H launch the Rename Popup?
