Losing sound when adding still image or mosaic to video

I have added a .mov audio/video file on track 1 which initially plays fine. Audio is heard normally.

And on two separate occasions the sound went missing. I added a still image overlaid on a section of the video which caused the sound to stop on the entire video. The sound bar is still there just doesn't play. The default sound is still the speakers as per the audio hardware.

This same thing happened when we added a mosaic to the video as we needed to blur out some faces. As soon as we added the blue the sound stopped.

Not sure what we are doing incorrectly?

Glad it worked Aaron. Hopefully Adobe will eventually address the issues with working with variable frame rate video in a future version of the program.

The video uses a variable frame rate compression, which is not supported in Premiere Elements -- which is why the program is not matching project settings to video specs, which is why it's misbehaving.

Try converting the video to an MP4 by loading it into HandBrake. Set Handbrake up to create a 1920x1080 30 fps video with a constant frame rate. The MP4 you output should edit perfectly in Premiere Elements.

    It has worked, however, seems like a long process to do for every video.

    It might be helpful if you let us know which version of the program you're using on what operating system.

    Meantime, open your MOV in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy and paste the report it generates to this forum.

    There are dozens of variations of MOV files, but once we knew what your file is composed of (and which versions of your software you're using) we might better be able to advise you.
