Missing files after export PE 2022

I am trying to export a file in PE 2022. Just upgraded from 2011. Previously I could export it to a file that saved the project in a new format. Now after exporting the project there is nothing in the file that I select as the destintion. I am able to find the project file but not a converted file. I can upload a project to YouTube but I also want to save the project as an MP4 to retain on a hard drive. Any ideas as to why the file exports, says it is done, and then just disappears?

Look in your export settings where Elements put the file.

Are you saying that if you output an MP4 to your desktop, the program doesn't put an MP4 on your desktop?

I am trying to export it and save it on a hard drive. After it processes it says it is finished but no file appears in the folder I designated.

That is counter to all experience! To spot where the error occurs, I have to ask you to list your export steps with screenshots.
