Question

More RAM? Unsupported GPU? Help pls?

Hey guys so basically I've been having pretty major issues with my videos. They will freeze at a certain point in playback because of a certain effect that I like (earthquake) and I will have to restart the whole program. It's frustrating. I've also been having issues trying to render my timeline so it plays better. A message will come up saying its rendering but the bar will get stuck and I'll have to restart the program. Again, frustrating. I would completely understand this issue if I had lower end hardware, but I don't, I have an i9-10900k cpu, 64 gigs of ram, and a 2070 super gpu (which I can't use because it says it's unsupported). Playing back an 8 second clip with earthquake on it will use 99.4% of my cpu which doesn't seem right. It is also only using 25% of my ram which doesn't seem right either. All in all I just want to know if someone can help me with A. the supposedly unsupported GPU, B. dedicating more ram to the program.

P.S. I've already tried dedicating more virtual memory. Also sorry this is so long.

Premiere Elements comes with the most common codecs for consumer cameras.  Video from other sources like games and screen recorders can trip it up with variations to common camera footage.

Usually someone here can spot the problem with a past of the text from the (free) Mediainfo program.  My guess is that the frame rate will be variable.   A common fix is to convert the captured video to camera like video with the (free) program Handbrake.

"Setting up the project" is done two ways.  The preferred automatic way is to put a primary clip on the timeline and Premiere Elements will pick the settings.  It can be manually forced from a menu when opening a new project.

Does your project, in the Expert view, have a yellow line above it?  It should be green.

Oh ok I see. And yes it is yellow unless I choose to render it.

Now I'm confused!

What are your project settings?  What is your source footage?  And, how are you setting up the project.

Here are the project settings (general )

the footage I'm using is 1080p 60 fps clips from Fortnite (if thats what you mean),

and I'm not sure what you mean by how I'm setting it up.

Let me know.  I have a 16GB RAM Windows computer and PrE runs well.  After checking the Audio Input, what are the settings on the General page for previews?

Ok I turned the audio input to none. This is what I see for previews:

It may seem odd, but it has been fairly consistant that a mismatch in Audio Hardware preferences will cause a tangled overload in processing.   Try checking Default Audio Input to "none".

Alright thanks I'll try that next.

Yeah I agree. It's not great. If I pay that much money for a program I shouldn't find myself screaming at my monitor because it isn't working as it should.

I can't help with your main problem, but go to https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/gpu-acceleration.html

Scroll down to Premiere Elements Beta Tester Program and send your information to the Beta team

Someone MAY reply and send you the small utility program to add support for your card... when I was sent the utility I had to run it 3 times in a row for the setting to 'stick' and allow my card to be used (moot point now, after I built a new computer in January with a card on the approved list)

Alright thank you I filled out the form. Did your program work better after you got the utility?
