Music track not playing in timeline view in Premiere Elements 21

When I add a music track to the timeline for my video, it will not play in the timeline view until after rendering. Is this normal? This was not an issue in my previous version of PE.

It is after I output a finished video. How do I adjust audio preferences (thanks for your help)?

That does not happen on my computer so I have to say that it is not 'normal'. What us the source of the music?

Imported music. The audio clips provided with Premiere elements won't play either until after rendering. It plays fine after rendering.

When you say "after rendering" do you mean after you render the timeline preview or do you mean after you output a finished video?

If the latter, that means you merely need to adjust the program's audio preferences.
