I have just purchased adobe premiere elements 2018 today.  I am using windows. the only option in hardware output is realtek speakers which I have and which are apparently up to date. However, there is no sound at all.  I have no idea what to do to get any sound.  I don't have any other devices in the computer at all. Can anyone help?  thank you. Nicola

Have you tried changing the Default Input to see if that fixes it? Strangely changing it sometimes fixes the Output sound.

apart from the speakers, it does not give me any other options at all.  I have checked my realtek audio on my windows and it says that it is the latest version.  Im going spare trying to work this out.

Hi again, just to be clear - all the video files i have loaded do have audio.  It is just when I have loaded them into premiere elements 2018 that there is no sound at all coming from my speakers.

Hello there, I have been to audio hardware preference but it only gives me the one option of the realtek speakers.  It doesn't give me any other option at all.  I am very new to premiere, so I do not see the waveforms.  I have tried several files,, all of which have audio when you play them out of premiere. Thank you for your help and advice.  Nicola

Go to the Edit menu and, under Preferences, go to Audio Hardware. (I think you may have done this, but it's not clear from your post.)

Experiment by switching around some of the settings for both your input and output.

Even better if you can post a screen capture of your Audio Hardware preferences so we can see it.

We're assuming of course you've tried a couple of different sound files in your projects and that none are playing even though you see their waveforms on your timeline.
