No video preview showing in premiere Elements 2022

I have several projects in Premiere Elements 2022. Audio and video preview were both there when I started yesterday but at some point the audio completely disappeared. Outside of Premiere Elements 2022 everything is fine. I have video/audio in VLC, I can record audio or use WhatsApp and Skype and play videos in YouTube.

The video disappears at various points and I don't see any way to get it to return. I can create a new project and add video files and there is video in the box where the basic menu is. I don't know why audio went away. I haven't changed any settings but I read here that setting the input audio to NONE will work. I did this and now I have audio again. I'm not sure if I will be able to add narration because there's no input at this point. (The other boxes in the audio configuration say "not working" if I select the microphone input.) But at least I have audio for the timeline.

For video preview I don't know what's happened. If it's a new project the video preview is there. If it's an existing project, some have video, some don't, displaying only the box with the basic options. I can't find anything in FAQ or in the community that helps to get the video to display again for the existing projects

I have a 2021 Lenovo IdeaPad laptop with the 11th Gen Intel processor i7-1165G7.  Windows 10

With what you've provided, my first guess is you may need a video driver update or your graphics driver preferences need changing.   Can you provide a screen shot?  That might help.

Hi Bill, not sure what you want a screen shot of; the screen without video or the graphics driver?

But there's good news, I guess.

Most (not all) everything is working today. The video has returned in every project /prel I have opened, including those in the autosave  and the autosave/autosave folders.

A few things I did may have jiggled something inside the software and made it reset itself.

1. I deleted the .prel files to the recycle bin

2. I renamed a few files and moved some files to another folder so I had to use the 'replace' option for offline media

3. I restored the deleted .prel files from the recycle bin and opened them. If they had videos then I was able to play them.

I don't know why any of those things would make a difference by now I am able to see the video preview. Thanks for your quick reply.
