Opening or converting Premiere elements 2020 .prel files in 2024 version

Hello,

I have just purchased Premiere Elements 2024.

In my previous version (2020) I was in the process of making a video. I find that PE 2024 will not open the 2020 .prel file, neither is it locating the media from which the Video is being constructed.

I have a bad feedling about this!

Can anyone advise please?

Newer versions are not backwards compatible... and even trying to open an older project file MAY corrupt that file

The usual advice is to finish a project in the version you are using, and do NEW projects in the newer program

I guess I will have to restart the project.

Unfortunately, I have spent many hours on it so far which will now be largely wasted. I do think it is bad and even unfeeling of customers requirements that backwards intergration is ignored.

At least in the Organiser I was able to convert my catalogues so that they functioned with PSE 2020!
